Teatime Tales

Even though the Argus didn't mention us, QueenSpark Book's latest publication: 'Teatime Tales' got a feature on 11 May 2011. It's a lovely little book and a bargain at £5.99.

The book was launched at a packed party on Saturday 30 April. I know I was there, as you can see from this photo of me with the mayor.

The Pavilion Gardens Café, like the Royal Pavilion across the Gardens, is a unique Brighton institution. Throughout the last seventy years, it has offered refreshment, relaxation and a certain kind of charm to tens of thousands of visitors from around the world.

The Café also attracts a fascinating clientele of local people, and throughout the summer 2010, QueenSpark volunteers interviewed some of them. Over the last few months yet more volunteers have written up these interviews and some of them are featured in 'Teatime Tales' for the very first time, alongside memories and a selection of photographs from the Sewell Family who have owned and run The Café since its first incarnation on Brighton beach in the 1930s.

Copies of the book can be obtained direct from QueenSpark, this website, from most city booksellers and the Pavilion Gardens Café itself.
